This is excellent Jeffrey, and I think your metaphor to music can be extended to thinking about how to create alternative forms. Blues, Jazz, Alternative Rock, by introducing minors or pentatonics, the major pattern is disrupted in a way that is appealing because of its subtle difference, the bending of notes and melodies and progressions that are still in a way familiar. Going to be thinking about this all day, so thank you.
